More Swimming and Baby Maddox...

Caleb's cousins Kooper and Maddox came up to play for a few days before we head up to Bear Lake next week, so of course we had to hit the pool! Caleb was more comfortable in the water this time around and really started kicking those legs! He is so fun to watch in the water! I doubt we'll get him to go into the lake though...the pool is really warm and the lake not so much...I'll let ya know!!

We decided to go with the arm floaties this time around...

After being dunked by GPA!!

Here is a little video of Caleb swimming...my parents are trying really hard to get him to kick his legs...

Later after swimming I was getting Caleb ready for bed and he decided that he was going to lay by Maddox...as you can tell we really have to watch him around the baby because Maddox is so small and Caleb is obviously so big!!! Caleb is infatuated with Maddox though...and even offered Maddox the corner of his blankie when he was a little fussy! It was too cute to watch!

Caleb moved himself over to be near Maddox...this is when he started trying to give him the corner of his blankie because Maddox was a little fussy!

I'm so proud of my little tenderhearted munchkin!!! What a sweetheart!

1/2 Marathon, Bryce Canyon and Swimming Fun!

Caleb and I finally made it to Utah last Thursday after a LONG flight of delays! Caleb did an excellent job traveling and I thank my lucky stars for DVD players and ELMO!!! The next day after we got into SLC we took off and drove down to Cedar City to pick up my brother and his family and then we all continued onto Bryce Canyon for the 1/2 marathon! We had to get up really early on Saturday to get ready for it and got to the starting line at 6am...it was 50 degrees outside (which I was not used to) but it felt good to start off the run! The 11th mile was the one I struggled with a bit, but kept going and made it in about 2 1/2 hours which for my first marathon, was pretty good! My dad was my wingman and we ran together the whole time! We all were SO SORE (and still are) but it's starting to finally feel better! I'm looking forward to Houston's in January now...I'm glad I got to do this!!!

My Dad and me after the race!

The running crew...Mike and Nikki finished about 20 minutes before us, but our matching sweat bands looked awesome!!!

After the race we took a drive into Bryce Canyon National Park...it was beautiful!

Me and the canyon...Caleb was asleep in the car with GMA!

More Canyon...

My sleepy boy...traveling is TOUGH!!!

Nikki sneaking in a pic with my boy!

After a weekend of traveling, we decided that it was time to relax and took Caleb to the pool...he didn't know what to do at first but as soon as GPA got in, the fun began!!

A confused look...

GPA throwing Caleb in the air...he loved this and we FINALLY got some smiles and laughs!

WEEEEE!!!!

Drinking some pool water!

Caleb also got the swim dunk and I think he was worn out by this time!!! GMA was trying to get him to kick, but all he wanted to do was snuggle!

After getting HOT in the hot tub!! Caleb had a lot of fun!!

What we've been doing this week...

NOT MUCH!! Well I can't say that...just a bunch of this and that!!! I started putting this Nighttime Bubble Bath into Caleb's bath at night and I'm starting to think that it might really help him relax to go to bed! He takes some good naps throughout the day
and today was no exception. This afternoon I put him down at about 2:30 and he slept until 5:15! Naturally I thought he won't go to bed tonight until around 9 and was planning on keeping him up that long until after the bath. Around 8:15 he started to get really snuggly with his blankie (a sign of Caleb being tired), we went through the routines, I laid him down and...

BAM...he doesn't make a peep and is completely asleep! I swear that stuff works! We really were not that active this afternoon with it being Sunday and piping hot outside so i'm thinking it has to be the bubble bath!!! PLUS the last few nights I've used it, he has gone to bed like this! Usually we have some pretty extensive wall kicking and talking! Anyway, I know that I may just be losing it, but don't rain on my parade! I wonder if this stuff can magically wean Caleb off of the bottle now??

We have been doing a lot of cleaning again this week and since the broom has made an appearance more than once and Caleb has figured out where it goes, he has taken it upon himself to bring it out on various occasions to play with (or pose with in these few pictures!) I just can't get enough of this kid! We hope you had a great week...Enjoy my boy!

This little kid LOVES his books!!!

Posing with the broom...we weren't quite ready for the day! I'm loving the whole hand on hip thing he's got going on here...it says...I'm a man and I use a broom!

Climbing the beds and doing somersaults...This kid is fearless on the beds...he has to be well supervised!

A second pose with the broom...enjoying a relaxing moment with his new friend!

A Colson Family 4th Tradition!

We hope that you are all having a fun and exciting holiday weekend! Ours started off with Adam and I getting up early to run 10 miles! I am training for the Bryce Canyon 1/2 marathon in two weeks and Adam has been training along with me even though he's not going to be there to run it! We usually take Caleb with us but decided that since is was too hot outside he didn't need to be in the heat! We dropped him off at Janet's house and he got to play instead of get dehydrated! Janet spoils him so much and had picked up some toys for him to bring home to play with! I thought that Caleb might be a little clingy when I handed him over, but when he shut the door in my face, I figured he would be okay!!! After the run and a good shower we prepared our 4th of July feast...took a well needed nap...and then celebrated our independence by watching Joe Dirt! It just seemed appropriate! Adam also went and bought some kid friendly fireworks and we had a little show before Caleb had to go to bed! What FUN!!! We love spending time together as a small family and had a great 4th!

Pretty much all fireworks were banned because we're in a drought down here so Ad stuck with the Texas Loud Texas Proud Outlaw Kid firework variety pack! Caleb loved the snakes and sparklers! We looked for some Whosker Do's and Whosker Don'ts along with some Kitty Chasers but they didn't have any!

Why do I have a picture of Joe Dirt on my blog...I don't know...

Caleb really wasn't scared of the fireworks, so maybe he's scared of the camera here?!?

Adam showing his pyrotechnic abilities!

WOO HOO!

The Outlaw Kid did NOT disappoint!

Adam ended the show with a sparkler dance!

TODAY:

Caleb's 4th of July outfit...didn't seem to want to smile for the camera!

Caleb looks like he's 3 in this picture...Kooper watch out!

Snuggle bug with dad...

Not in a picture mood today...Happy 4th of July!!!

Earlier This Week:
I wanted to document for Caleb his Love affair with Elmo and all of the Sesame Street gang...this is what happens when I put Sesame Street on. NOTE: he ONLY does this for Elmo!

If you look closely, Caleb is holding onto a corner of his blanket...this is for sucking on! He ALWAYS has a corner of a blankie in his mouth! Better than a binkie I say!

What is it about Elmo that gets kids to do this??? His red body and high voice must be hypnotizing!

The highlight of my day...who else???

CALEB!!!!

Today was just a lazy day hanging around the house! I went to Target yesterday and found Caleb this fun Linus shirt since he is so into his blankies so of course we tried to do a little fashion shoot and Caleb just wasn't cooperating! These are the best that we got! Other than pictures, Caleb helped me clean the bathrooms by putting my shoes in the garbages, opening and closing the dishwasher, pulling the tupperware out and opening and closing any and every drawer/door in the apartment! No wonder he's tired by the end of the day! I'm going to miss this in the fall!

Even though he does have a Charlie Brown head, he channels Linus more!!! He can't et enough of his blankies!

Taking a break to read a book...

Another one of his trademark moves, going over to the couch and just laying back...this kid loves to lounge!

The effects of humidity on curly hair...I've never had to deal with it, but Caleb will!!

A little profile shot...just about ready for haircut #2!
