Hipster Caleb...

Hipster - One who possesses tastes, social attitudes, and opinions deemed cool by the cool. (Note: it is no longer recommended that one use the term "cool"; a Hipster would instead say "deck.") The Hipster walks among the masses in daily life but is not a part of them and shuns or reduces to kitsch anything held dear by the mainstream.

Caleb has decided that he only wants to wear the fedora now...he never combs his hair, and is starting to chose outfit combos that don't follow your normal 3 year old wardrobe (or is it his mom who chooses to do this?) I'm waiting for him to ask for a scarf and thick rimmed glasses...he could pull those off though! Maybe I'm the hipster!!

I am going to start working 'deck' into our vocabulary...who wouldn't?!?

I'm thinking that Caleb is thinking that it is 'deck' to not go p p on the potty...just another reason why he could be a hipster...
diapers are the new undies!

WHATEVER...I'm over it...

Back Blog...Galveston...

I think that this large trumpet sculpture was put here just for this purpose!

Jared's turn!

I don't know why Galveston has such an obsession with large things...maybe it's the cruise ships...there weren't any in the port today, otherwise you would've gotten a pic!
Chess anyone??

While Jared was down hanging out with us, we took him down to Galveston to have a good look at the ocean. It was definitely a much nicer day than the last time we came down (in the winter), and Caleb was so excited to play on the beach! We went to the Strand first and looked in some of the fun touristy shops, and then headed over to the beach...Galveston is only about 1.5 miles from the Strand (which is on one side) to the beachfront (which is on the other side) so it didn't take very long to drive! Of course the day was pretty hot and humid, so being able to put our feet in the water was nice! I look back on it now and am completely kicking myself for not bringing swimsuits...Caleb wore his, but the grownups didn't! It was totally our loss because the water was GREAT! People were looking at us like were were CRAZY! Caleb had a blast running in the water and jumping waves! A family even let him borrow some of their sand tools to build a little sand castle! We watched pelicans dive for fish (which was super interesting!) and I had a lot of fun people watching...Galveston is the place to go people watching!

That's the ocean y'all...the OCEAN!!!

Sea shell collecting!! We found some good ones!

1, 2, 3, AWWWWWWW! (Insert special brother quote here)

Getting ready to jump a HUGE wave!

RUN Caleb RUN!

After a yummy lunch, we took a drive down the coast a little more looking for some beach accesses (word?). On the drive, you run into these...
All of the houses that are down here look a lot like this...built on stilts! They are AWESOME!

I told Adam if we didn't have hurricanes and were guaranteed insurance, I would totally live here!!

Each house has its own personality and fun bright color...lots of purples, light blues, sea foam greens and yellow!
