Caleb's Trip to the Zoo!

Caleb and the giraffes...you can tell he's really stoked about them!!

This is Tucker the Elephant. You might say that he is somewhat of a celebrity here in Houston because after the hurricane, Tucker helped clean up a lot of the debris around the zoo! We were excited to see him!!

Caleb was excited too!!!

Love those Longhorns!!

Last Saturday, because the weather was a little cooler, we decided to take a family day and take Caleb to the zoo!! We had a lot of fun looking at all of the animals...of course Ad and I were really looking at the animals, Caleb just enjoys being outside! We have a really neat zoo in Houston and hope to go back again soon! Caleb scored a little stuffed elephant which we named Tucker!!!

One of our favorite animals...the Speckled Bear!!

We really liked the way this porcupine was just hanging out!

Caleb letting us know that he wanted to go home!! It was starting to get warm and he needed a nap!!!

Dinner at the Roadhouse...Caleb ordered the Armadillo!

Ad finished it off for him!!

Here is a little slideshow of the rest of our day!

Fun Times with Mom and Dad!

Me and Caleb...I am in serious denial over the size of my son...size 18 months clothes y'all!!! He is so funny and is looking more like a little man than a baby!!

He LOVES to wiggle...especially when there is a camera in front of his face!!

Nikki if you're reading this...I NEED A HAIRCUT!!! Hook me up with a Houston Salon ASAP!!!!!!!

Does he look like me at all??? I still think he's all dad!!!

Because of the hurricane they closed school all of this week so Caleb and I have spent a lot of quality time together! I am happy to say that this kid can NAP!! It's awesome. I've been able to do a little bit of reading and some other things while he snoozes away! He'll take 2 hour and a half naps other than the extra snooze in the morning after his morning bottle!! AND he still goes to bed at night! We keep telling ourselves how lucky we are to have such a chill kiddo! I can't wait for the next one...wink! wink! anyway, here are some pics of us from this week...we're hoping that we can take Caleb to the zoo tomorrow since the weather has been a little less humid and cool...if you can call 85 degrees a lot cooler!! To us it is!!! Enjoy!

Caleb loves to sit in his bouncy chair...I put him in first thing while I'm making breakfast! He just goes to town...this a rare moment when he has stopped to see what I'm doing!!

I also got him some new jammies...these are the Old Navy 2 piece variety! I don't have to "pour" him into them!!

Ad has been having to drive downtown these past couple of days and the traffic coming home has just been HORRIBLE! It takes him about 2 hours to get home...Caleb is already for bed by the time he gets in and so here is Caleb snuggling with Daddy before bedtime!!

Business as usual...

Caleb finally rolled from his tummy to his back on Sunday Morning! Adam and I were thrilled!! Caleb actually has been sleeping on his side for a while...these are the pics that I got of him without waking him up or having to use the flash! He sleeps like this every night when I go to check on him in his crib!! This kid is hilarious!

Things have gotten pretty much back to normal for us here in Houston...but like we said on our last post, we are one of the lucky few who got power back as quickly as we did. I actually just found out that I don't go back to school until next Monday!! Apparently there is still a lot of schools that need power and some that have damage that needs to be fixed!! Caleb is so excited to have Momma around to play with for a few more days!! Adam went back to work today! We drove down to the campus yesterday afternoon and looked around town. There was so many trees and so much debris everywhere! A lot of places are still without power and our good friends Mike and Julie Hill came to stay with us on Sunday night because they were still without! Caleb LOVES his Uncle Mike and Aunt Julie and just had the best time getting more attention from people other than his mom and dad!!! They let us steal some of the pictures that they took from the Hurricane to post on our blog. This is exactly what we would've experienced if we still lived downtown! I would've FREAKED OUT!!! Anyway, they thought it was really exciting!! The Hill's are most definetely the thrill seekers!! Anyway, enjoy this extremely long post! We have enjoyed this little break to spend time together as a family and get some cute pictures of Caleb! He's getting a little more stubborn, but of course is cute when he is!!!!!

Caleb snuggling with his Dad...(Adam is faking sleep in these two pics...wink! wink!)

Caleb gets really excited for some reason when we walk down the stairs, so I had Ad take some pictures as we were walking down the other day! If you are the person walking behind him, you are in for a treat!!! and a lot of smiles!!!

Caleb's First Hurricane??

Camp Colson!! Where we had to sleep last night!

We didn't have power so we used our Crank Radio to listen to what was going on!

Too early in the morning for pictures Mom!!!

The car port outside our door...I heard this fall down last night...SCARY!!

If you look closely, Ad's car is the red one and this is what was left of the tree right in front of it...there was a lot of debris everywhere!

For those of you who haven't had the chance to look at the news lately, the Houston area just got hit with HUGE hurricane Ike...it was quite the experience and one that I really don't want to experience EVER again! It came to shore early this morning, but it was really windy all day yesterday...because we weren't an area that was a mandatory evacuation, we had to "hunker" down (I love these Texas terms!) We were directed to run from the water and hide from the wind, and since we didn't have any water to run from out here in Katy, moved our mattress into the safest place in our apartment away from our windows. Caleb slept in between us and had no idea what was going on because he slept through the whole thing! I, on the other hand, was a complete wuss and slept for maybe an hour or two. The wind was blowing so hard I swore the roof was going to blow off! It is really something to experience when the wind blows so hard and just howls...you can hear things being broken and moved around outside, not to mention the constant flash of either lightning or transformers blowing up! We were lucky and had power until 4 in the morning. We also got ours back at 11 this morning and have been able to enjoy AC and watching what has been going on around our area. I think that we are one of the lucky few that got power back as quickly as we did...we took a drive this afternoon and there wasn't much on other than our little area! We also are so grateful that we moved out to Katy because downtown Houston (where we used to live) just got hammered! We saw a picture of our old apartment complex and it was just completely surrounded by water...along with the freeways! Our friends Mike and Julie Hill who still live downtown, told us that they still don't have power...we hope that they will be able to make it out here to Katy if it doesn't turn on and the waters recede! We are truly grateful that we are safe and that our home was protected through our first (and hopefully last) natural disaster! Here are a few pictures that I took today of what went on!!

What Caleb does when the power is out...PLAY as usual!

We'll call you and keep y'all updated!

Caleb enjoying the AC and a bowl of rice cereal and prunes!!

YUMMY!!!

Love that Munchkin!!

Six Months and SOOO BIG!!!

This was the look on Caleb's face when he found out how big he was! It answered the question of why he couldn't roll all the way over yet!

How big is Caleb?? SOOOOOOOO BIIIIIIGGGGGG!!!! I took him to the doctor for his six month check up and he is weighing in at a whoppin 21 lbs 5 oz, he is 29 inches long and a true boy! The doctor told me that there is no percentile ranking for him...he is off the charts! As she saw the look of concern on my face, she reassured me that he is not overweight, and is proportionate for his height and weight! She did however, perscribe him a lot of tummy time so that he can get some exercise to help him reach his milestones!! He is not behind by any means, but she just wants to make sure that he doesn't get lazy since he has a lot more to pack around!! WOW!! I knew that he was wearing 9-12 month size clothes...but I seriously think he might be bigger than his cousin Kooper and Kooper is 2!!! Anyway, we now have to go and buy him a new car seat and we won't have to go to the gym anymore because carrying him around is quite the workout! We are very proud of our munchkin...he is such a happy guy and loves to talk and wiggle! He loves his mommy and daddy very much and also loves to come and sleep with us in the mornings on the weekends!! He loves eating his cereal and fruits and veggies, but still loves his BA BA!! We are excited for when he can say real words and can walk!! Like we always say, we LOVE our boy!!!

There's no basement in the Alamo!!

Well, we made it back from San Antonio and had a wonderful time! We stayed downtown at a fun bed and breakfast on the riverwalk. We were only a few minutes from the Alamo and all of the fun downtown attractions, so packed up Caleb in the stroller and went for a walk!! Of course we couldn't see everything, and it was really hot and humid, so on Saturday we just stuck to the Alamo and the riverwalk and then on Sunday we went to see all of the old Spanish Missions. There are 5 total (including the Alamo) and very beautiful. They still hold Catholic masses in them and in one they hold a Mareache mass(i totally botched that spelling) where a Mexican band plays the music. We got to hear it and it was fun to listen! We had some really good breakfast, met some really nice people and Caleb liked people watching! We got Caleb a coon skin cap and an armadillo for his souvenirs and will take some pics of that soon! It was fun to take a break and relax a bit for a few days! Here are a few pics of our trip!!

Where I found Caleb the night before we left. He can't roll over yet, but he can sure wiggle into a tight spot!!

Ready for the road trip!

The Alamo!!

Daddy and Caleb at the Alamo...this building was the libriary behind it!!

Having fun at the riverwalk...we were waiting for our table to go and eat!!!

Here are some more pics of our trip...more of the Alamo and the Spanish missions!
