Adventures on Valentine's!

Happy Valentine's Day from Doctor Love...I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more Caleb!

We have had quite the eventful Valentine's Day spending it together as a family! We decided that we needed to get to know our area a little better and drove down to Brazos Bend State Park. It is only 45 minutes south of where we live and is out in the country. It has a lot of little trails to walk or ride bikes on, and some campgrounds that look like fun. It also has a lot of alligators, venomous snakes, etc. We had a lot of fun driving around and getting out to explore as much as we could...it decided to rain while we were there and it wasn't just an easy sprinkle! We stopped at one lake and within 5 minutes of walking out on the pier, saw 4 alligators just chillin in the marsh. It's just so funny to see the changes in wildlife compared to up north...instead of bears being in the campgrounds, they have signs for snakes and alligators down here! Adam was very brave though and when we went to the visitor center, he actually touched a snake that one of the park volunteers was holding! WOW! After we left the park, we drove downtown to have dinner at one of our local hot spots, the Spaghetti Warehouse! It's really delicious, and quite the adventure getting in. The parking lot is pretty horrible and located near a transient hot spot! You pretty much run into the restaurant before you get approached! I know that last comment sounds pretty insensitive, but really...in a big city like Houston, you don't want to take any chances! Anyhoo, here is our day in a small nutshell! Happy Valentine's Day!!

Caleb and myself enjoying the views from the pier!

Caleb showing how excited he is to get out and see some wildlife...Jack Hanna better watch out!

okay, to the left of the white bird, you can see an alligator. It really looks more like a pile of mud in this picture, but believe me...it's an alligator!
(Click on the pictures and you will be able to see the gators better!!)

There are 2 alligators in this picture. I'm sorry that the zoom on our camera didn't really zoom in on what we wanted you to see here...if you can't see the gators, then just enjoy the scenery!

Who would want to annoy an alligator?

Again, one more alligator...this one was right close to the trail and we actually heard it while walking onto the pier. I about peed my pants, but kept my composure...I had to look brave in front of Caleb!

Daddy and little man taking a quick pic before getting soaked by the rain. Notice the moss hanging off of the trees! so nice!
